Bootcamp Black screen when booting

so on my 15 inch macbook pro late 2008 running 10.11.6 i got a usb dvd drive (my old one died along time ago) so i could install windows 7 so i did that but i noticed when booting from the dvd it stayed on a white screen for like 2 minutes it did the same after the install so i decided to reset the pram but after that it just made it so when i boot into anything windows related dvds and the install i just put on it just turns off in seconds i tried refit but basically the same thing happened any suggestions on what to do to fix the problem?

Does OS X boot and stay up normally? Installing Windows from an external USB Optical drive on a 2008 Mac results in an incomplete (EFI-based) installation, which can cause unpredictable behavior. If you can, I suggest removing rEFIt (which is old). There is a fork of rEFIT, called rEFInd, that you can use, if you must.


Try the following two steps

and test.
